Running/Athletics

Although exercise and activity are extremely good for the body and a key component to health, often times rigorous activity such as running or playing sports can put a great amount of strain and stress on the body.

This can sometimes lead to injuries, but more importantly, repetitious trauma can hinder the full potential the body has for that activity as well as in every day life.

Additionally, with participating in collegiate athletics and being current avid runners themselves, Dr. Darrell and Dr. Gretchen understand the special requirements and needs of an athlete’s body. They treat many competitive and non competitive athletes in the Shenandoah Valley, from high school to master’s division athletes. Through working with the spine and biomechanics, many athletes have had great improvements with the following problems:
  • Iliotibial band syndrome
  • Shin splints
  • Plantar fascitis
  • Hip/low back pain
  • Knee pain
  • Foot pain
  • Chronic muscle strains/sprains
  • Tendonitis

Chiropractic care allows the athlete to not only stay in their sport or exercise, but express their potential at a higher level. Being in balance and subluxation free allows the body to move more efficiently and recover faster, therefore staying healthier and injury free longer. Many athletes initially come into Active Health Chiropractic because of a pain or nagging injury, but continue with care even after the pain is gone. This is due to the fact that they realize that receiving chiropractic care helps them to continue to participate and perform exceptionally.
